While we were reading

SCKA 2022 - We're back!

16/2/2022

Picture
The Subjective Chaos Kind of Awards are back, and I'm back as a juror too after a year of hiatus.
Our nomination list is in and we have so many good stories on it!
What is the Subjective Chaos Kind of Awards?
Short answer: it's some kind of awards -- kind of because you shouldn't take us too seriously -- in the genres of scifi, fantasy, horror and all sub-genres in between, given by a bunch of enthusiastic (read chaotic) SFF readers who don't pretend that they know what's best but who know what they like (hence subjective).

Long answer: we have a brand new website where you can read all about us and check on previous years nominees, winners, and jurors. (Thanks Imyril for putting so much time in it!) The website is here, and look at our shiny Twitter account here! (Are we becoming organised? Nah...!)

Come on, C.! Stop babbling and give us the nomination list!

Obviously, I already have my own favourites and I'm looking forward to seeing if another story steals my heart!
So far, I've already reviewed and loved & This Is How We Stay Alive, Light from Uncommon Stars, The Future God of Love, These Lifeless Things, and This is Our Undoing and maybe I should update my review of The Expanse at some point.

What's next?
Reading. Lots of. You'll see popping up on the blog reviews for the books I've loved over the next few months.
I'll be reading in the scifi, fantasy, blurred boundaries, novella, debut, and series categories, which makes for a lot. And maybe it wasn't that wise to pick that many!
We are hoping to have finalists in early July, but as always those deadlines are subject to change.

Where can we find the SCKA on the interwebs?
Our debates are held privately, but we use our brand new Twitter account ( @SCKAwards ) RT blog posts from the jurors. Our website includes all the information you may seek about the Subjective Chaos Kind of Awards.

Follow our adventures and embrace the chaos!

"While we were reading" is an irregular feature about reading science-fiction and fantasy. It can contain guest posts. Nothing fancy, come as you are.
It is also home to all the Subjective Chaos Kind of Awards announcements.
